Discover Boating Hands-On Skills Training
On-the-water learning events—only at the boat show!
Nothing beats hands-on experience when it comes to improving your powerboating skills. This year’s show features a full schedule of one-hour and three-hour hands-on, in-water powerboating workshops designed to add more fun and excitement to your boat show experience…and take your boating skills up a notch. There’s something for everyone—from absolute beginners to seasoned skippers!
Learn from experts:
All sessions are based on internationally recognized training and certification programs and are taught by USCG licensed captains who are also certified professional instructors.

Choose Your Powerboat Event
Powerboaters may select from the following 1-hour hands-on, in-water workshops:
• Advanced Docking Skills
• Close Quarters Power Handling
• Open Water Boat Handling & Seamanship.
Choose one...or several! You'll learn skills that will last a lifetime. There is a nominal registration fee for each session. CLICK HERE
Powerboaters may also opt for a more in-depth learning experience and considerably more helm time by participating in a three-hour extended workshop created specifically for and presented only at the boat show:

• Advanced Docking & Precisions Boat Control in Tight Spaces.

Space is limited— advance registration is highly recommended. Last-minute registrations may be available so be sure to check with the Discover Boating Registration Center staff on-site. On-site registration does not include boat show admission.
Fred's Shed Interactive Learning Center
Watch, learn and do! If you’re a do-it-yourselfer or boat owner interested in learning new techniques for taking care of your boat or motor, head to Fred’s Shed for practical, professional advice. Free daily sessions cover a variety of topics.
- Watch certified marine technician and expert wrench slinger “Fred” demo tools and techniques on actual boat and motor cutaways.
- Learn how to maintain, repair or upgrade our boat or motor.
- Take part in discussions, ask questions and participate in hands-on-clinics.
Together, “The Boating Guy,” and certified marine service technician “Fred, The Outboard Doctor,” bring more than 50 years of boating and “wrench-slinging” experience to the Shed.

Paddle sports are among the fastest growing water sports in the world—and whether you’re interested in a new way to enjoy the outdoors, healthy exercise or just simply relax, you’ll enjoy paddle sports.
You can check out the latest gear and try both kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding for FREE!
**Be sure to bring your swimsuit and a towel—there will be private changing rooms on-site—and we’ll supply the kayaks, paddleboards and paddles.
